Beautiful Cape Town morning
What a difference a few raindrops can make…
I woke up this morning to the sound of rain, and my first thought was ‘oh dear, is there anything outside in the garden that needs rescuing?’. I hurried out to check, and as I entered the garden, I just stopped, lifted my face and stood there, breathing, letting the freshness of the raindrops awaken my senses. I try to start the morning by ‘saluting the sun’ to get the stiffness out of my body, but today I saluted the rain! So often, our days start in a rush. Quickly have a shower, then get lunch ready and breakfast on the table, help the kids get dressed, make sure that everything is where it’s meant to be for the start of the day. Today, I didn’t hurry, and I wasn’t late for anything. The rain literally washed away the rush, and we left for school with everything ready, in a great mood.

When we reached the Waldorf kindergarten my daughter attends, I was welcomed by the next treat to my senses. All the plants and herbs and flowers in their beautiful garden were beaming after the refreshing rain, and it was like walking into a shower of scents. I spent a while with my daughter and her friends, playing in the trees and the climbing structures, and I left with such a feeling of gratitude and happiness.
What a difference it makes to stop and taste the rain, smell the flowers, listen to your child’s laughter with friends.
Have a beautiful day everyone!
