Inspiring Women of the Mother City

In celebration of Women’s Day on the 9th of August, we want to shine the spotlight on some of the amazing Daughters & Mothers of Cape Town who inspire other women by what they do and who they are. The first on our list is Tina Schouw!

My list of role models is not a very long one, but it is strong, beautiful and powerful because of the people who have made it there.

Some of them are women, and a few of them are from Cape Town! Tina Schouw is one of those people who are not only exceptionally good at what they do for a living, but at the same time manage to reach out and inspire others to be the best they can be - at being a mother, a woman, a friend - a human being. SInce I heard Tina sing for the first time in St George’s Cathedral about 6 years ago, I have been moved and inspired by her lyrics and her voice, and by the way she always keeps a finger on the pulse of the world and of Cape Town. Her children’s album ‘The Goodnight Songs’ has been a dear companion to our family since in came out in 2008, and we still enjoy the unique mix of vibrant tunes to jive away the last energy of the day, and beautiful lullabies to soothe the soul of young and old.
