More Sunday fun!

This is an addition to the series ‘My favourite things’ and shows you just how good this old-time favourite is…

Our Sunday outings are determined by two major factors; how socially busy our Saturday was (and hence, how desperate my husband is for a coffee out amongst other urbanites), and how quick our kids are with their wishes before we start browsing for new ideas. It’s amazing just how long a 4 year old will keep one favourite while other preferences change several times a day…like dresses, or cups, or hair clips…
The places that never seem to move any further down the list than number 1-3 are the Aquarium, Kirstenbosch and the South African Museum - also known as “I want to listen to the whales!” - and this was the winner this particular weekend. For us adults, it seemed like a great idea, as we could get to show the girls the Wildlife Photography of the year Exhibition - in fact, we were quite exited. In the end however, we had to take turns getting around to the exhibition (and a quick sprint to the DADA exhibition at the National Gallery…), because the girls stayed loyal to their favourites and would much rather hang out with the whales and try to figure out what they are saying than explore new art forms. The most important thing is that we all had a great time, it was nice and cool on a hot day and the museum keeps its place in the top three.
