See the Volunteer Wildfire Services in Action!
The WWS protect some of South Africa’s rarest and most precious natural heritage, and play an important role in educating the public on how to keep nature, people and animals safe. During this open day, young and old supporters can get a closer look at what their work looks like.
The VWS Jonkershoek will be holding their second Fire & Fynbos Awareness Day on the 25th September 2011.
The focus is once again on creating awareness of what their volunteer firefighters do, why it is so important for all of us to protect our precious natural heritage and the sensitive mountain water catchment areas.
The day promises to be a blast, with loads of fun (and often educational) activities for the kids and grown-ups too. With food stalls, tented seating and interesting exhibitions the event is a fun filled day for the entire family!
Many activities will be on offer including, a 3km Family Fun Walk, tree abseiling, firetruck rides, snake shows, Spur jumping castles, treasure hunting with a difference, magic shows and live music. Our volunteers will be presenting an exciting mock fire display, so you get to see the “blaze of yellow” in action! Competitions and spot prizes will be presented throughout the day.

This is wonderful. As a Mom of two beautiful kids it is always good to have them participate in projects that are presented in a fun context…
