Art in Public Spaces puts Cape Town in the spotlight for March 2012

The Africa Centre’s, Infecting The City Public Arts Festival, will explode on to the streets and public spaces of Cape Town for the fifth time from the 5th to the 10th March 2012.

Infecting The City is by far the largest and most diverse annual public arts festival in South Africa. This year, celebrated local and international artists will create artworks that unlock the communal spaces in the Cape Town City Centre. The art will encourage audiences to see, hear and smell the extraordinary by taking a fresh look at the Mother City, its citizens, and themselves in radically different ways.

Prepare to see Cape Town in a whole new light! For more information, visit http://www.infectingthecity.com, like the Festival on Facebook, follow ITC on Twitter (@infectingthecit) or call the Africa Centre on 021 422 0468.

Butterfly World

Butterfly World is not only home to more than 24 species of exotic butterflies, but boasts a variety of birds, marmoset monkeys, and several magnificent iguanas. In addition, there are hair-raising displays of indigenous and exotic spiders and scorpions, housed in locked glass boxes.

They are raised on breeding farms in countries such as Costa Rica, Philippines, Malaysia and China. The pupae are then flown to display parks where the butterflies emerge into their tropical gardens. There’s display boards that outline the life-cycle, and which are dotted with pupae in various stages, and if you’re lucky you get to watch the fascinating process of a butterfly emerging.

Ready to take charge in your house? Interested in spending more quality time with your family and less time disciplining and negotiating?

123 Magic! This 3 hour course will give you a “how to” discipline your child and creating a “non negotiable” authority in your home.

Step 3: Strengthen Relationships.

With discipline and behaviour managed, more positive engagement can take place, thus enriching the life of your family, and in some cases, saving relationships.

Pauline is certified to teach this method to you and has personally been using it in her career in education and child care for over 10 years. There is no other way to put it, it simply works “like magic!” She has taught this method to educators and parents alike for the past 3 years, and with the 100% success rate, now brings it to the general public.
COST: R300 pp, R600 per couple, R100 per caregiver (1 per household).
