Franschoek Literary Festival

The 2013 FLF will take place this year from 17 – 19 May and promises to be our most exciting festival yet! Along with the very best of local writing talent, will be a host of well-know international authors.
The festival offers events for a range of ages. See website for details. Booking is essential and tickets are available through webtickets

Sounds of the African Bush by Doug Newman & Gordon King

Nature lovers of all ages, keep an eye out for this CD and book which captures varied sounds of Africa’s wild areas. Animals are often heard before they are spotted, and this book serves as an excellent guide to help identify 76 creatures (mammals, birds, amphibians and insects), based primarily on their calls. For each of the species listed, there is a full-colour photograph, distribution map and brief facts about its life history and behaviour.

Napoleon Bones by Jenny Hobbs

Teenage readers look out for this hilarious thriller -  “Napoleon Bones” a police dog, gourmet, Cape Town crime fighter. Not your average pavement special. Aside from being a culinary expert and a thinking woman’s companion, he’s one half of an all-rescues K9 unit tasked to help track down the notorious Blackjacks gang. Their search takes Bones and his partner, the ginger-haired cycling enthusiast Rusty Gordon, from the streets of the Bo Kaap to the trails of Table Mountains and the backyards of the Cape Flats, all the while investigating perlemoen poaching and dog fights, rescuing terrified people from dangerous situations, and saving many a damsel (and doe-eyed bitch) in distress.

Sports at Gymboree Play and Music

Move, stretch and build an active lifestyle together by learning fitness and sports fundamentals. Activities focus on developing the skills involved in soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball, flag football, hockey, racquet sports, track and field, and golf.

Gymboree Play and Music is an indoor venue, and will provide all children aged 3-5 with toddler sized equipment.
