Spier never do things half-heartedly, and there’s no exception at Easter time, when the farm hosts the province’s biggest Easter egg hunt. Kids will be following a trail of yarn more than three kilometres long to find eggs on the farm. Afterwards, if they have energy to spare, there will be a giant chicken jumping castle and a giant egg piñata.
There will also be face-painting and egg-painting stations where their haul can get some flair. Parents don’t have to feel left out – there’s a wine and chocolate tasting for them while they wait for kids.
Lunch, featuring some Easter favourites, will be served to the whole family on the Spier Hotel’s lawns. And it doesn’t end there – everyone gets a special fortune egg gift to take home.

The Book Lounge: Launch of Irki: A Poetry Collection by Kadija George Sesay

‘Irki’ means ‘homeland’ in the Nubian language – a language which is fast becoming extinct. Writing as a second generation West African, Kadija tells of the arrival of parents of different religions, the loss of a national tongue, and growing up Black, as one of the ‘Michael Jackson generation’, against the racially divided background of Britain in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

The Book Lounge: Launch of Arctic Summer by Damon Galgut

In 1912, the SS Birmingham approaches India. On board is Morgan Forster, novelist and man of letters, who is embarking on a journey of discovery. The seeds of a story start to gather at the corner of his mind: a sense of impending menace, lust in close confines, under a hot, empty sky.
