Cape Youth Adventures will run a multi-activitiy Holiday Day Camp for kids in the winter holidays from the 14th of June 2010 until the 2nd of July 2010 in Somerset West at Hottentots Holland High School. As a result of the long school holiday during the World Cup period in June and July, many parents are looking for something to for their children to do while they are still at work. To try and help meet this need, Artee Parteez will be running an arts & crafts holiday programme for the first two weeks of the school holidays (14-25 June). We’re celebrating the power of the youths of South Africa on 16 June with a special deal allowing youths free entry when accompanied by another paying person!  The Winter Holiday Programme will run with the usual workshops and shows, and Outward Bound will be helping out with the climbing wall all day from 9:00 – 18:00 at R10 a climb.  Don’t miss out on a day of science fun for the young and young at heart!

Situated at the Constantia Waldorf School, tucked away in the Kindergarten building is the only permanent Puppet Theatre in South Africa. The Rainbow Puppet Theatre has been performing to the public every Saturday morning at 10h00 and 11h15 for 18 years this month! Our artistically painted theatre has a permanent team of five puppeteers complimented with full stage lighting, beautiful glove, rod and shadow puppets and even live music.  We can seat up to 60 guests! Although our shows are widely regarded as entertainment for children, adults who come into contact with it soon fall under its enchanted spell. Aside from a few other stories, our Rainbow Puppet Theatre usually performs well-known Grimm’s Fairy Tales such as ‘Snow White and Rose Red’, ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘Hansel and Gretel’.  We have about 16 different stories altogether which rotates on a monthly basis.

The Rainbow Puppet Theatre presents “Winter Wander” Special Performance – Lantern making Activity combined with Rumpelstiltskin puppet show. Parking is ample and free and we also have soup, tea, coffee, juices and eats on sale.

Activities on the theme of A Joyful Look at Biodiversity and Climate include an introductory discussion, a guided walk to relevant parts of the Garden and video-microscope investigation of varied plant forms. The highlight of the session is the creating by each child of an own collage on board, using art media as well as coloured beeswax and dried indigenous plant material or pressed flowers of many different species.

Enjoyable and informative workshops are presented by Sue Nepgen, art and environmental educationalist, with experienced assistants. Activities on the theme of A Joyful Look at Biodiversity and Climate include an introductory discussion, a guided walk to relevant parts of the Garden and video-microscope investigation of varied plant forms. The highlight of the session is the creating by each child of an own collage on board, using art media as well as coloured beeswax and dried indigenous plant material or pressed flowers of many different species.

Noordhoek Farm Village will keep the home fires burning with the ever popular hot chocolate and cookies day, in conjunction with the Foodbarn Bakery and Deli. The kids will use cookie dough to make their favourite cookies and soccer balls in all shapes and sizes. This winter, Elemental Kids will be offering innovative holiday workshops for children between Gr.1 and 6. The theme for the first workshop series of the winter school holiday is FIRE! All the activities will be connected to this theme. For this 5-day programme the group will explore the heat of fire through various activities such as: candle making, building a bon fire and cooking, using heat to make things float and fire art. It runs from 14th June to 18th June. 9.00am to 4.00pm daily.
        The theme for the second workshop series of the winter school holiday is AIR! All the activities will be connected to this theme. For this 5-day programme the group will explore the power of air through various activities such as: making birds that fly, building kites and planes, inventing musical instruments and creating a wind sculpture garden. It runs from 21st June to 25th June. 9.00am to 4.00pm daily.

For this 5-day programme the group will explore the complexity of the earth through interactive games, experiential art and group activities. Through out the week the children will participate in an unfolding “Amazing Race” that will take them on an adventure through different landscapes and environments! It runs from 28th June to 2nd July. 9.00am to 4.00pm daily.

For this 5-day programme the group will explore the life giving qualities of water through the creation of a group installation art project. This will involve conceptualisation, design and construction. Children will build a life size fantasy world which will provide others with an experience of water! In this charming tale Aesop, a Greek slave, learns that liberty comes with responsibility as he journeys to his own freedom, joined by the animal characters of his parable-like fables. The Tortoise and the Hare, the Lion and the Goat, the Stork and the Wolf and others are brought to hilarious life through the musical score, adapted for Isango Portobello by Mandisi Dyantyis and Pauline Malefane.
The South African company Isango Portobello is based in Cape Town.

Situated at the Constantia Waldorf School, tucked away in the Kindergarten building is the only permanent Puppet Theatre in South Africa. The Rainbow Puppet Theatre has been performing to the public every Saturday morning at 10h00 and 11h15 for 18 years this month! Our artistically painted theatre has a permanent team of five puppeteers complimented with full stage lighting, beautiful glove, rod and shadow puppets and even live music.  We can seat up to 60 guests! Although our shows are widely regarded as entertainment for children, adults who come into contact with it soon fall under its enchanted spell. Aside from a few other stories, our Rainbow Puppet Theatre usually performs well-known Grimm’s Fairy Tales such as ‘Snow White and Rose Red’, ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘Hansel and Gretel’.  We have about 16 different stories altogether which rotates on a monthly basis.

The show for the Month of July is Rumpelstiltskin. The Duration of the show is approx 35min.Parking is ample and free and we also have tea, coffee, juices and eats on sale.

All the activities will be connected to this theme. For this 5-day programme the group will explore the life giving qualities of water through the creation of a group installation art project. This will involve conceptualisation, design and construction. Children will build a life size fantasy world which will provide others with an experience of water! This winter, Elemental Kids will be offering innovative holiday workshops for children between Gr.1 and 6. The theme for the first workshop series of the winter school holiday is FIRE! All the activities will be connected to this theme. For this 5-day programme the group will explore the heat of fire through various activities such as: candle making, building a bon fire and cooking, using heat to make things float and fire art. It runs from 14th June to 18th June. 9.00am to 4.00pm daily.
        The theme for the second workshop series of the winter school holiday is AIR! All the activities will be connected to this theme. For this 5-day programme the group will explore the power of air through various activities such as: making birds that fly, building kites and planes, inventing musical instruments and creating a wind sculpture garden. It runs from 21st June to 25th June. 9.00am to 4.00pm daily.
        The theme for the third workshop series of the winter school holiday is EARTH! All the activities will be connected to this theme. For this 5-day programme the group will explore the complexity of the earth through interactive games, experiential art and group activities. Through out the week the children will participate in an unfolding “Amazing Race” that will take them on an adventure through different landscapes and environments! It runs from 28th June to 2nd July. 9.00am to 4.00pm daily.

Situated at the Constantia Waldorf School, tucked away in the Kindergarten building is the only permanent Puppet Theatre in South Africa. The Rainbow Puppet Theatre has been performing to the public every Saturday morning at 10h00 and 11h15 for 18 years this month! Our artistically painted theatre has a permanent team of five puppeteers complimented with full stage lighting, beautiful glove, rod and shadow puppets and even live music.  We can seat up to 60 guests! Although our shows are widely regarded as entertainment for children, adults who come into contact with it soon fall under its enchanted spell. Aside from a few other stories, our Rainbow Puppet Theatre usually performs well-known Grimm’s Fairy Tales such as ‘Snow White and Rose Red’, ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘Hansel and Gretel’.  We have about 16 different stories altogether which rotates on a monthly basis.

The show for the Month of July is Rumpelstiltskin. The Duration of the show is approx 35min.Parking is ample and free and we also have tea, coffee, juices and eats on sale.

Our Goal  
Our online community is growing steadily and we would like to extend an invitation to all those who may be interested in joining us at our bi-monthly workshops to be held in the Southern Suburbs (Wynberg area).  - you do not have to be a member of our website to join the workshops.

The main focus of these groups will be to “encourage creativity through adversity” - what this means is, at each workshop, members will get the chance to share and discuss their creative works - be it poetry, photography or a painting they’ve done. These workshops are intended to be informal, fun and inspiring.  At the end of each workshop, a topic for assignment will be given for the next workshop; this is meant as something to look forward to - a way in which to motivate and inspire members.
We want to create a space where individuals feel safe and comfortable enough to kickoff their shoes, let loose their hair and share, share, share!

Bio -  Candice is a 25yr old stay-at-home mom, wife and entrepreneur.
She was diagnosed with Bipolar mood disorder at the age of 16 and has since received further diagnoses of ADHD along with anxiety disorder.
She is ambitious, honest, head-strong and a very good listener.
The idea for creating Bipolar-heArts support community came to Candice recently when she attended a Bipolar Workshop hosted by “Integrating Polarities”.

We’ll be presenting 67 minutes of story telling at all Exclusive Books stores at 10:30 am on Sunday. This will be an enjoyable experience for readers of all ages and a great escape from the cold winter weather we’re having at the moment.

Puppet Shows remain one of our most popular activities at Noordhoek Farm Village, closely followed by the Magic shows. This Saturday we combine puppets and magic for a real treat. The bandstand is fully enclosed and weather proof so children will be well protected, warm and dry!  The puppet shows are interactive, educational and a whole lot of fun! Balloon tricks and facepainting available.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Celebrate winter at Noordhoek Farm Village by making snowglobes and snowballs. Bring a jar (or buy one there) and bring a personal trinket to make a snow scene in a bottle. It’s all about snow and the fluffy white stuff! You might even make an edible snowman! The Bandstand is fully enclosed and protected from the elements so kids will stay warm and drive.

Every Sunday at 12h00, Delvera and Spectrum Productions transport children to a magical fairytale world. Parents can either join in the fun, or leave the children watching the play in a safe and supervised environment while they browse through the many arts and crafts shops on the farm offering handcrafted items ranging from designer clothes, organic beauty products, linen, jewellery, cards and decorations to paintings in all mediums. After the show come for a scrumptious lunch at Simonsberg Café.

The Cape Town Book Fair is celebrating its fifth birthday this year. We know that you love coming to the fair, and the Children’s Zone will be providing lots of things for you to do and listen to.
You’ll be able to meet authors, hear stories and take part in quizzes. Go to the website for more info and a full programme.

In the spirit of welcoming all riders – from novices to champion cyclist – the event boasts four scenic routes, each with its own unique challenges to test every level of mountain biking expertise.
Meurant Botha of Dirtopia, who has been designing and maintaining trails for more than ten years, says that the 4 routes passes through more than 20 wine farms and the riding is considered some of the best and most beautiful in the country.“
This year organizers introduced the 75km Ultra to the 2010 edition of the event. This route is only riders who have proven themselves through past results and ranking and is available by invitation only, limited to a field of 200 participants.
Only riders that qualify on seeding and have received an e-mail invitation will be eligible for inclusion into this start group.
The 60km route will traverse several local mountains and is not for the faint hearted! While the winner is expected to conquer the route in around three hours, the average participant will take between four and five hours to complete the race.
The 42km is a tough challenge and not for beginners. The 30km ride is perfect for those who feel that the 15km will be too short, and don’t feel like tackling the climbs of the 42km.
The 15km have proven itself as perfect for novices.

Giraffe House is starting a monthly programme for kids ages 5-13years called Walk with Werner (WWW).
This will be held monthly on a SATURDAY MORNING between 10-11am. The idea is to introduce any interested children to the animals of Giraffe House - what’s new, what’s interesting, see how we treat any sick or rehabilitating animals, and just chat about what’s happening in the world of wildlife…..

Two local sisters have created a great series of books about a Cool Nguni cow and his family. What a pleasure it will be to have Maryanne and Shayle Bester here to read their stories and tell us more about adventures that this young cow gets up to. They will let you take part in telling a brand new story. This is not a morning to be missed!

Situated at the Constantia Waldorf School, tucked away in the Kindergarten building is the only permanent Puppet Theatre in South Africa. The Rainbow Puppet Theatre has been performing to the public every Saturday morning at 10h00 and 11h15 for 18 years this month! Our artistically painted theatre has a permanent team of five puppeteers complimented with full stage lighting, beautiful glove, rod and shadow puppets and even live music.  We can seat up to 60 guests! Although our shows are widely regarded as entertainment for children, adults who come into contact with it soon fall under its enchanted spell. Aside from a few other stories, our Rainbow Puppet Theatre usually performs well-known Grimm’s Fairy Tales such as ‘Snow White and Rose Red’, ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘Hansel and Gretel’.  We have about 16 different stories altogether which rotates on a monthly basis.

The show for the Month of July is Rumpelstiltskin. The Duration of the show is approx 35min.Parking is ample and free and we also have tea, coffee, juices and eats on sale.
