Baphumelele Children’s Home
A home full of hope and a chance for you to make a difference!
Baphumelele has been very close to my heart since I first came to Cape Town in 2002. In 15 years, this has grown from a small shelter for a few children to a well-run organisation caring for orphaned and homeless children and people living with HIV. Rosie Mashale is an incredibly inspiring woman who never turns away a child and always has new ideas on how to help those in need around her, and I’m always amazed with her never-ending energy. One of the reasons why this is a project worth supporting is that we know that the money goes directly to the children and making sure they have the basics covered. Their recent focus areas are a hospice for people with HIV and the development of cluster homes where 8 children live together with a "mom" staff member. You can donate money by setting up a regular donation or become part of the sponsorship programme and contribute to a child’s education.Clothes, toys and furniture donations are also welcome, but contact them first to check what it is they need and to arrange collection. Look into their website and learn more!
