Creating a passion for good food in children
Little Cooks was the original kids cooking program to hit South Africa four years ago. The program was designed by qualified chef Christine and the nutritional content provided by Kath Megaw Paediatric Dietitian. An occupational therapist has approved the sensory aspect of the program. There are currently seven Little Cooks Clubs Nationwide and this is the second year Little Cooks Club has hosted the kid’s area at the Good Food and Wine Show.
Little Cooks Club, Table View is run by Paediatric Dietitian, Kath Megaw. It has been running for the last two years and makes use of puppets, stories and the original food characters like Oliver Orange and Betty the Butternut to teach kids about healthy eating and good nutrition.
Kath Megaw specialises in fussy eating in her practice and uses this knowledge to assist moms in her club as co-author of Feeding Sense (coming in August 2010), Kath has many years experience in helping moms feed fussy kids.
At Little Cooks there are classes to accommodate children from 18 months to 3 years and 4 – 8 years old. We vary the level of difficulty according to the age group.

Our Classes
• For the past two years we have been running five classes a term at affordable cost.
• Classes are one hour long and are divided into three critical learning areas.

My daughter Mikayla has started Little Chefs this last term and counts her sleeps from one week to the next until the next session. She has learnt SO much about food durning the sessions that she is baking at home, with very little help. Kath and her team are organised, friendly and know just how to get the message through the the kiddies. Little Chefs has really created a passion for food for my daughter. Wow, what a professionally run class. My daughter, Jennifer, attended Little Cooks for the whole of last year and loved every minute of it. Being a fussy eater, she always shied away from many types of food but Kath’s gentle nature and talent in dealing with children ensured she was exposed to the exciting world of healthy food. Little Cooks really was a wonderful experience!

This was one of the most amazing experiences that I had with my 5 year old daughter Grace.
It was not only cooking for us, but really a quality time of bonding and spending time together as mother and daughter. As a mom of 3 I found that my kids need their individual time and this was our special mom and Grace time, and we both loved it so much.
I was blown away by Kath’s knowledge and incredible passion for kids. Her warm smile and loving manner made the experience so pleasant. She is a profesional and a gifted woman with a passion for kids and food. It shows itself in everything that she does.
I have a special book for each of my kids where we recored all their fondest memories. Grace’s Liitle Cooks Certificate has it’s proud spot in her book since this is one of our most special moments together!!
