Salmonsdam

Toddler friendly camping means parents at ease!

Salmonsdam is perfect for the not-so adventurous campers who want a weekend away near Cape Town. Our friends experienced their toddler’s first steps here, and recommend the place highly to families with small children. The small camp site is situated around a big lawn which is perfect for little ones to run around on, and the site is in safe distance from the river. Both the river and a pond are nice to go to together for some exploration, and there is a short walk up to a stunning waterfall. At night, Bontebok come down to the camp site so you can hear them outside your tent. There are also basic cottages available for those who prefer this option. According to http://www.capenature.co.za the reserve hosts various antelope, including bontebok, klipspringer, grey duiker and grey rhebuck, as well as baboons and numerous small mammals. More than 120 bird species have been recorded, notably various sunbirds and kingfishers, Cape rockjumper and black eagle (a bird list is available on request).
