Garden Route Game Lodge

This malaria free, family owned and operated private Game Reserve is home to an abundance of animal and birdlife including the Big 5.

Established in 1999, this malaria free, family owned and operated private Game Reserve is home to an abundance of animal and birdlife including the Big 5. Visitors can enjoy excellent sightings of lion, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, white rhino, zebra, wildebeest, kudu, bontebok and a variety of other antelope species.

Children of all ages are welcome. GRGL has 34 rooms of which 8 rooms in the West wing of the main lodge have been converted into family rooms each with additional two kid’s beds. The rooms are equipped with microwaves as well as DVD players. Kids DVD’s are available for hire from reception.

Kids receive complimentary gift packs on arrival and neat toy boxes containing fun and educational toys, are placed in each of the luxurious family rooms. The contents of the toy boxes have been carefully selected to suite boys and girls of different age groups and are a welcome distraction while mom and dad unpack.

Light lunches are enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the heated and cold pool where kids get to enjoy a snack from kiddies menu “Lion cubs,” before being summonsed by a friendly ranger to join the children’s activity program.

The children’s activity program at the Garden Route Game Lodge has been designed to stimulate interaction between children and nature. Children are taught to be aware of our environment and the many lessons nature can teach us while having fun at the same time.

There are a variety of activities on offer to cater for all children including bush survival skills, rock art painting, kiddies game drives and guided bush and insect walks and fishing in the dam all overseen by our professional caring staff. There are two custom made children’s animal theme play parks complete with swings,

After dinner, kids can enjoy DVD’s and hot chocolate, or grab a torch and follow one of the rangers on a night walk, leaving mom and dad to savour their evening meal in the boma restaurant.

On Game drives, families with children will be accommodated in separate vehicles.
Child minding services are available.
