The Giraffe House Wildlife Awareness Centre

African wildlife centre offering school programs, daily animal encounters, wildlife kid's parties, bring-a-picnic, bicycle track for children under 10yrs (bring your bicycle)

The Giraffe House started in April 2007. It is a privately-owned centre situated just off the N1 on the R304 towards Stellenbosch. Giraffe House promotes education, knowledge and respect of our African wildlife and their heritage, in order to ensure their well-being and preservation within their natural habitats on our African continent. Our animals are all African and are kept in environmentally friendly enclosures.
We offer school tours, including a guided tour, talk and an interactive and educational snake/reptile show.
We are open to the public 7 days/week, 9am to 5pm. We have a kiosk, children’s play area, picnic areas (public can bring along a picnic) and a Kiddie Bicycle Track (opening Oct 09/kids must bring along their bicycles, for ages under 10yrs)
We host children’s birthday parties (snake show included) and also have a thatched venue for functions/meetings.

Holiday special (12 Dec-12 Jan) - free ice-lolly for kids coming to Giraffe House with their bicycles!

I don’t like to be negative, but I would not recommend the Giraffe House on a hot day.  We were there in March and the heat was unbearable as there is very little shade available. The area was also very dry and dusty. Perhaps it is better in autumn and winter?  There are also not that many animals to be seen.
